Next week's EE Live! conference and show covers a broad spectrum of topics with in-depth focus on today's most critical ones. One of these in-depth sessions is the IoT Summit, with two days focused on practical tips and experience-based insights into designing for the Internet of Things (IoT). One of the more intriguing session titles is "What Marketing Won't Tell You About the Internet of Things."
The speaker, Elecia White, is an experienced embedded developer, founder of the embedded software consulting company Logical Elegance, and author of O'Reilly's Making Embedded Systems. She is also the host of the iTunes podcast "Making Embedded Systems."
Intrigued by the title, I caught up with White to learn what the presentation will be about and what prompted the topic. Her response was enlightening. She pointed out that, in her experience, development teams first approaching the IoT "believe that it is just a matter of throwing WiFi into a design to become part of the IoT revolution. It was tough watching people setting themselves up to fail."
