Not quite a museum

Years I go I happened to be coincidentally in Geneva and got to see the International Exhibition of Inventions. It was so long ago that Noah was showing his ark. Nevertheless it was great fun and I expect it still is.

Aubrey,

I just found a list compiled for the Test & Measurement World buyer's guide issue in 2000.

Martin

We went to both last year. I have lots of pcitrues of Galileo's inventions andthought the Uffizi was boring. What does that say about me?

It says you have impeccable taste!

My daughter said she never wants to return to Florence -- too many museums.

@antedeluvian: Note to self, investigate Sheffield as tourist destination.

If you do ever end up in Sheffiled, you would have to visit my mom, she could show you lots of historical things (plus a ride in her car will satisfy the most extreme of thrill-seekers)

To be honest with you, I don't know when this was built. I never heard of it before I came to America in 1900

Funny, you don't look that old. LOL

tell me what you think

This was great. I would love to go there. Note to self, investigate Sheffield as tourist destination.

There is a steam museum near Toronto. Maybe I should plan a visit as well. I wonder if they would ever allow this demo in North America. It seems to me that there were insufficient safety precautions by North American standards.

I just remembered an amazing museum called Kelham Island in my home town of Sheffield, England.

To be honest with you, I don't know when this was built. I never heard of it before I came to America in 1990. My mother took me to see it when I went to visit her a couple of years ago. There are lots of really interesting things there, but one of the most amazing is a huge steam engine that wa sused in the steel rolling mills over 100 years ago -- check out this video and tell me what you think.

One place you mentioned that I would really like to see is the M.C. Escher Museum in The Hague -- maybe the next time I visit the Netherlands...

Actually the museum is a "twofer" since it is an old palace. But don't get your hopes too high, the Dutch royal family appears to be much less extravagant than other royals in Europe.
