Stringent security norms

As the IoT devices evolve, there has to be a parallel effort making the security norms more stringent and the commercial IoT devices shall need to comply with the same in order to be saleable. But, I am not sure how the tiny devices which would ideally run without battery could take the additional burden of security algorithms.

Very well put- you can bet that sloppy security is going to slow down the growth of IoT in anything other than 'toys' for quite a while...
