Fee market is benefitting more China than USA.  That model will be dead soon. Government must address this problem first. No IC technology sales to China and limiting publishing papers. Otherwise US will find that she is pariah on IC industry in 10-15 years.

Very good post. China already showed (SMIC sponsored industrial espionage) that it can steal from TSMC through internet and bribery.

Slow down with post silicon

CMOS may have 1T costs in installed base and R&D. Before one says about post CMOS, one has to consider that factor. There are tons of improvements needed for more advanced CMOS to capitalize on such an investment. Controlling costs in CMOS is for many years more important than futuristic R&D.

Regain US lead in high tech.

For a while, US lacks awareness importance of high tech and semiconductor business. The envy of the high-tech has been apple in foreign entities' eye. It's good to see an awakening.

1. Lack of desire and short-sighted lead to loss lead in high tech.

2. Improper and unfit tax drives high tech to move oversea

3. Imbalance investment and endorsement in business

4. Over-emphasis in oil and financial section

5. Monetary police encourages M&A and layout off employees instead of innovation

Need to encourage R&D by increase tax credit in critical area before it's too late. Wrong police just makes companies hoard up money oversea and drain domestic resources for new innovation. (Low interest rate motivates company to borrow in US for M&A and layout off employees instead investing in new technology.)

Are you going to attend the IEEE 3d IC Conf in SFo next week ? Its at the Park Central hotel in downtown SFo

I will participate in the Panel discussion on Wed Nov 9 at 4:00 PM. Plan to go over the connection between die stacking technologies and architecture as well as cost vs performance.

Do come.
