"Uh, yeah, and we have this thing, too. You know, everybody says that we should have an octopus running our test station just like all the other companies have, but i don't see the point. <pause> So, now i'll show you where you'll be working ...."
The octopus is only an intern. To improve our body count, HR has hired Aegaeon, Cottus, and Gyges. The famous Greek Hecatoncheires agreed to each work on an 8 hour shift in the lab as long as we pay them by the head. We agreed knowing that would give us over twelve times the performance and form 3 core groups of 100 arms. Unfortunately HR missed that they had 50 heads when they arrived to take pictures for their badges.
I had two programmers working on a problem together and my boss pulled me to the side and asked why I had cut their productivity in half. She thought they should have been working on individual projects. I countered with, who's going to cut down more trees? Two guys with single handled saws or two guys using a double handled saw? They are pushing and pulling each other to a solution and cross training to boot. She still wasn't happy.
We had to get creative in order to follow the user manual supplied with this low cost test equipment we bought ... "Observe signal by set trigger level while adjust display brightness and voltage sensitive, can also press indicated to capture snapshot."
In this room we have an Wavetek signal generator, a few Techtronix scopes, an Agilent spectum analyzer, a couple of NI's Precision DC power supplies and...uhhh..well, otherwise it's kinda boring. Shall we move on to the next room?
He went to a large school, University of Cal Imari, which is somewhere in southern California near the coast. He bascially lived in a cave while putting himself through school. Now he is getting his feet wet in the real world.
Oh you should be, working with me In an octopus's garden in the sea I'd let you in, help with measurin' In my octopus's garden in the sea
You'd ask your friends to come and see An octopus's laboratory Oh you should be, working with me In an octopus's garden in the sea Test each RLC, at every frequency In our little hideaway beneath the waves And check each led, on the sea bed In an octopus's garden near a cave
We would sing and dance around When we found a solid ground I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden in the shade
We would shout and ohm it out The vias of a hundred layer board (of a hundred layer board!) Oh what joy we'd have the best LeCroy With a bottomless budget for much more (Budget for much more!)
We would be so happy you and me With the biggest lab on earth below the blue I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden with you In an octopus's garden with you In an octopus's garden with you
He's trying to calculate the ratio of the circumference of a circle to it's diameter in base 8. We're trying to see how many digits he goes before he gives up. The project is called Occupy Octopi with Octal Pi.
