I so want one of these -- I can just imagine sitting in it taking a stroll around our neighborhood -- and seeing the expression on my 19-year old son and his friends' faces...

Yeah, both of the ones from burningman get me excited. I want the big one for parties and the small one for trips to the store

I saw one of these at the USA Science and Engineering Fair a few years back - it was pretty amazing. As I recall, the "driver" had some difficulty with the steering, particularly with those tight turns!!!

Wow. The John Deere walking machine is very impressive. One joystick to handle movement in all directions suggests lot's of code!

Hi Max, I'm with you, how cool would that be. I'm surprised 2 of them were simple cam driven units, doesn't scale up well from toys I don't think.

Looks like herculean strong. Will all these spider bots will work on my street with -25C, lots of ice and snow?

Could spider bots become a normal, acceptable part of traffic and a reasonable means of transportation? They seem to require a great deal of maintenance and care. And they may not be the most efficient or reliable of vehicles. But they do get you from point A to point B, and the aesthetic factor cannot be denied.
