National Manufacturing Week opened with solid traffic, underscoring the vitality of the industrial community. Vendors spanning a broad array of products seemed pleased with traffic on opening day despite the seeming early departure of attendees whose presence faded late in the afternoon.
What’s perhaps most intriguing about manufacturing is that there are always new exhibitors, representing new classes of services. Software suppliers continue to come up with new services, which they readily admit most manufacturing personnel don’t even know they need.
Among them is Pinion Software, which makes security software that lets people see critical files in their native format, yet prevents these viewers from copying the files. Another is Availl Inc., which makes a tool that mirrors files in all sites throughout an enterprise, assuring engineers and others that they’re working with the most up-to-date version of a project.
