The makers of industrial control equipment are striving to offer more complete systems, giving OEMs and system integrators a way to get systems up and running more quickly. At the huge PackExpo show in Chicago this week, vendors of robots, PLCs, PACS and other industrial equipment highlighted their efforts to provide more vertically-integrated products and services for ever-shrinking engineering staffs.
Parker Hannifin Corp. is one of many companies that is broadening its lines to meet changing markets. "We have a corporate directive to sell systems," a spokesman said.
That's becoming an increasingly popular approach, one that brings more compatibility along with quicker time to market.
