One of the biggest challenges in manufacturing is to faithfully reproduce the products that engineers and marketers want. That's hampered by many factors, not the least being the difficulty of translating CAE and CAD files into formats used to set up manufacturing equipment.
There are bright spots for those on the factory floor. Software vendors are making an effort to improve compatibility. And the consolidation in the design software world further helps reduce the chance that errors will creep in.
True compatibility is a long way off, if it ever gets here. But any improvement is bound to help.
