It's the end of the year and that means it's time to review the year's most popular design articles and tutorials. In addition to those that made it into Industrial Control DesignLine's top 20, I note below some of the interesting top features and tutorials for several sister sites as well.
The top 20 Industrial Control how-to's for 2008 includes articles on electric servomotors, DC motor drive basics, control system grounding, an IGBT tutorial and open-source robotics and process control.
Planet Analog's top 20 articles don't disappoint, with topics ranging from capacitive touch sensing, ADC jitter and analog high-pass filters to a primer on high-side FET load switches and linking A/D converters and microcontrollers via long transmission lines.
Among the topics included on Embedded.com's top 10 design articles were the art of FPGA construction, building "instant-up" real-time operating systems and designing DSP-based motor control using fuzzy logic.
FPGA DesignLine's top 10 articles include a couple on microcontrollers and FPGAs (see Microcontroller Design in FPGAs and How to interface FPGAs to microcontrollers) as well as a Virtex-5 User-Guide Lite and a feature on how to design an FPGA from scratch.
A couple of articles of interest on Video/Imaging DesignLine's Top 2008 Articles include an Introduction to video analytics and Video encoding with low-cost FPGAs for multi-channel H.264 surveillance.
Finally, DSP DesignLine's top how-to's offers tutorials on frequency modulation, spectral analysis and modulation, the frequency domain, the math of DSP and the basics of ADCs and DACs.
