Here's a simulation tool to deal with heat transfer -- and now you can use your smartphone to run scenarios.
Morgan Advanced Materials just unveiled a handy tool for all of you who need to simulate heat transfer scenarios. Whether using Morgan's insulation and refractory products, or other user-defined materials, the Web-based Heat Flow calculator allows users to calculate steady-state heat transfers through single or multiple layer substrates, and simulate an unlimited number of scenarios. Now, the handy tool is available via smartphone.
Users need only to register, and then they can create and manage their material databases and calculations. (You may register by clicking here.) The calculations use ASTM C680 formulas, with 2010 revision, the recognized international standard for estimating heat loss and surface temperatures.
Compatible with most OSs and browsers, users can save favorites, view and edit previous calculations, and download individual calculations in PDF format. Mobile smartphone applications for the calculator are available and can be found at iTunes and the Google Play Store.
Are you using online calculators? How do you find their quality and usefulness. Weigh in below.
