Embedded PCs for the industrial world must be robust, compact, high performance, and rugged to boot. Advantech's recently released ARK-3500 and ARK-3510 series of fanless embedded box PCs more than meet the criteria, targeting machine automation, industrial plants, and cabinet integration. The PCs provide performance, storage, and expansion in a single unit.
The PCs are powered by the third-generation Intel mobile QM77, and they support up to a Core i7 quad core processor. Dual expansion slots with PCI, PCIe x1, and PCIe x4 are compatible with an isolated AIO/DIO CAN card and motion control card for factory automation and a camera link card for machine vision. MIOe module and 2 MiniPCIe and storage options include two hard drives of SSD/2 mSATA/Cfast, as well as optional wireless WiFi 3G and GPS support.
As part of their ruggedness, the devices support power input of 9~34V/12V DC and have an operating temperature range from -10 ~ 60°C with SSD. They have EMC and safety certifications (CE, FCC, UL, CCC, CB, and BSMI).
Users can monitor, configure, and control many terminals with centralized, real-time maintenance; Advantech's SUSIAccess software helps manage administration. The devices also use McAfee for security and Acronis for backup and recovery. They support iManager F/W to monitor system status for abnormalities, and Intel AMT 8.0 Technology security is built in.
Advantech unveiled the PCs on the heels of launching two all-in-one machine vision inspection panel PCs designed to provide "greater control in a smaller footprint." The PPC-6150A and PPC-6170A have 15-inch and 17-inch panels, respectively, and can cut the number of units required for machine inspection in half. Previously, machine inspection required a camera, IPC, HMI, and monitor. Now, all that's needed is a camera and PPC.
These PCs also contain dual expansion slots, as well as dual hard disk drives with RAID 0/1 and six GbE ports, an isolated RS-232/422/485 port, a GPIO/RS-232, three USB 3.0 ports, and a USB 2.0 port. The number of ports enables users to connect diverse devices and quickly process the information.
