There’s a pre-integrated and pre-validated embedded virtualization solution designed specifically for the industrial segment coming soon. The solution will allow for the management and merging of multiple discrete systems on a single machine, speeding the development of new products at lower costs.
The solution bundles hardware and software, including an Intel Core i7 processor, and pre-integrated virtualization software such as the Wind River Hypervisor supporting three partitions for real-time and non-real-time apps. There will also be a package with McAfee Embedded Control in the future.
You can expect Intel’s Industrial Solutions System Consolidation Series to be available next quarter. A development kit is expected to retail at less than $3,900 and a production kit for just under $3K, both with a year of support and maintenance.
The goal is to bring many subsystems currently in industrial equipment into a single computing platform, delivering both ease of virtualization and a more affordable solution for OEMs, machine builders, and system integrators. The solution is expected to deliver a combination of greater efficiency and competitiveness to the industrial sector.
