I resent it that Obama wants to spend $ 7.2 billion of the taxpayer?s money to stimulate broadband deployment. Private enterprise is perfectly capable to provide me with whatever I am willing to pay for. I also prefer to choose myself instead of having a politician or the FCC do it for me.

Optical fiber can provide for telephone, and television as well as for data in areas not already well served. It can share poles with telephone and power services, occasionally replacing large amounts of copper with low priced alternatives and returning the copper to critical uses in industry. Coordination with telephone and power services and local cable television where it exists can lower the price of installation and spread it across various potential users. A "go slow" approach is needed to bring all parties to the table.
