LONDON We have managed to find out a little more about the ST-Ericsson demonstration of a Cortex-A9 based system multiprocessing the Symbian operating system that is meant to be taking place at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.
The first thing is that the demo is NOT taking place at the Mobile World Congress. The demonstration is taking place at a hotel approximately "30 minutes" from the exhibition and is "geared towards customers."
The second thing we have learned is that this is a dual-core Cortex-A9 implemented in a 45-nm manufacturing process.
What we don't know is: who made the silicon? Is it STMicroelectronics, or somebody else? Why only dual-core? Why not quad-core?
Apparently the demo will take place on the morning of Tuesday Feb. 17 so maybe more answers will be forthcoming after that.
