SAN FRANCISCO Improvements made to PowerGold power reduction software reduce power consumption 10 to 20 percent or more and enable run time improvement of two to three fold compared with the previous version of the tool, EDA startup Golden Gate Technology Inc. said Tuesday (July 18).
The latest version, PowerGold 6.2formerly known as Power Optimize Goldcomplements cell physical design flows such as those supported by Cadence Design Systems Inc., Synopsys Inc. and Magma Design Automation Inc., according to Golden Gate (San Jose, Calif.).
"Power reduction is on the top of the list of our customers' concerns," said Dennis Heller, Golden Gate CEO. "At their request, we have improved the power optimization and runtime of our flagship product."
PowerGold 6.2 achieves faster run times through improvements to the core power optimization algorithms, Golden Gate said, and new logic restructuring algorithms further reduce power consumption.
PowerGold can reduce both dynamic and leakage power, with an average power reduction of more than 15 percent across typical designs, according to Golden Gate. PowerGold's power reduction capability has been validated in more than 10 90- and 130-nm customer designs done with Cadence, Magma, and Synopsys physical design flows, according to the company.
Golden Gate plans to demonstrate PowerGold 6.2 in booth No. 3,332 at the Design Automation Conference here next week, the company said. PowerGold 6.2 is available now for Solaris and Linux platforms, Golden Gate said. Pricing information was not disclosed.
