Engine knock reduces the efficiency of internal combustion engines along with producing harmful emissions, especially nitrogen oxide. Conventional knock detection uses Fourier transform approaches such as accelerometers .
In this article, Freescale Semiconductor automotive engineers propose a new wavelet transform approach in which engine knock is detected as a transient signal. After summarizing current accelerometer and cylinder pressure techniques for detecting engine knock, the authors describe a new engine knock detection scheme based on a wavelet transform approach.
They conclude that a new adaptive knock detection approach is feasible using wavelet transform and that future work should focus on efficient hardware implementation.

In knock detection approach concentrate on after combustion to clear dust.Al ready several process was invented but they are not in present implementation. Then how much possible to accept.Better concentrate on make fuel into harmless form.
