LONDON – National Instruments Corp. (Austin, Texas) has acquired Signalion GmbH, a specialist in wireless communications standards and testing.

The purchase price was not disclosed. Signalion will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary selling and supporting its products through its direct, distributor and OEM channels.

The founders of Signalion (Dresden, Germany), Tim Hentschel and Thorsten Draeger, will remain with the company as co-managing directors. Signalion will work with National Instruments R&D to develop LabView system design software and PXI modular hardware for wireless test applications. Signalion is part of Dresden's tight-knit communications R&D community.

"Signalion has assembled a top team of researchers and developers through its close relationship with Technische Universitat Dresden working on the latest standards such as LTE, LTE-advanced and even fifth-generation wireless research," James Truchard, president, CEO and co-founder of National Instruments, said in a statement.
