On June 5-10, 2011, IMS2011 will be at the Baltimore Convention Center. The theme this year is "Microwaves for the World." The week in Baltimore is also home to the Radio-Frequency Integrated Circuit Symposium and the Automatic Radio-Frequency Techniques Group Conference (www.arftg.org).
In addition to the exhibition and technical program, there will also be a MicroApps program this year with contribuitons from numerous exhibitors, including AWR, Agilent, National Instruments, NoiseXT, and J micro Technology. For the schedule, head here.
The following are some short comments from some of the exhibitors, who are highlighting what will be at their booths and inviting you to any of their special programs. Hope you find it useful, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in Baltimore!
Analog Devices (ADI) Booth #820

Analog Devices will highlight its technical advances in RF technologies including its new industry-first mixers with wideband performance for multi-band communications. ADI’s ADL5811 single-channel and ADL5812 dual-channel RF mixers. The highly integrated wideband passive mixers are first in industry to incorporate wideband LO amplifier, programmable RF balun and IF filter, and IF amplifier to support wideband operation for wireless infrastructure and software-defined radio applications. Delivering unmatched linearity, low distortion and low noise combined with wideband frequency performance, ADI’s new passive mixers extend across a 700-MHz to 2800-MHz frequency range in a single device while delivering input IP3 (third order intercept) of 24 dBm, an 11 dB SSB noise figure and 7 dB of power conversion gain. These performance specifications are maintained across the full operating frequency range.

Analog Devices will also highlight its broad portfolio of RFICs covering the entire RF signal chain from industry-leading high-performance RF function blocks to highly integrated single chip transceiver solutions. The RF function blocks include PLL, PLL/VCO and DDS synthesizers; power detectors; amplifiers; mixers, modulator and demodulators; ADC drivers; clocks and data converters. They are supported by a wide range of free design tools to ease the development of RF systems.
ANSYS Booth #1020

ANSYS, Inc., is the leading provider of electromagnetics and circuit simulation software for RF & Microwave design. ANSYS will demonstrate the latest advancements in HFSS™ and Designer RF that allow engineers to quickly and accurately analyze complex systems. These advances include the hybrid finite element/boundary integral (FE-BI) technique which is ideal for simulations such as reflector dish antenna structures where the feed antenna is simulated using finite elements and the integral equation method is utilized for the dish surface. In addition, a new finite array analysis with domain decomposition will be demonstrated. This HPC parallel computing technique leverages the breakthrough domain decomposition solver to efficiently set up and analyze large, finite sized antenna arrays. HFSS Solver on Demand, a new ECAD (layout) driven interface for HFSS will also be on display. This interface provides engineers an intuitive and easy to use entry point for HFSS. Many aspects of the simulation process are greatly simplified allowing for faster and more automated setup for simulation saving valuable engineering time and allows them to benefit from a very tight link between rigorous full wave electromagnetics of HFSS and circuit/system analysis.
Skyworks Solutions, Booth #1428
Skyworks Solutions launches ultra-low current, general purpose low noise amplifier for diverse 1.5 to 3.0 GHz wireless applications. The SKY67014-396LF, the first of three new LNAs for battery powered receiver applications in the 450, 900 and 2400 MHz ISM bands, features noise figure <1.0 dB, 12 dB Gain and 15 dBm OP1dB, and draws 5 mA of current at 3.3V. This GaAs pHEMT LNA is in a 2 mm square, 8-pin RoHS compliant SMT package. Integrated active bias circuitry reduces external matching requirements and enables a wide supply voltage range of 1.5V to 5V. An OIP3 of 27 dBm at 2.5 GHz is achievable with 20 mA. New at MTTS this year Tektronix will showcase RSA5000 Series Signal Analyzer. The new instruments raise the price-performance bar for mid-range signal analyzers by offering more than double currently available acquisition bandwidth and the world’s best real time capabilities. By combining reduced time-to-insight and lower cost, the new series is ideal for numerous design and operations applications including spectrum management, radar, electronic warfare, radio communications and EMI/EMC. U.S. MSRP starting as low as $36,400.
Also being showcased at MTTS this year, Tektronix will highlight its AWG7000C and AWG5000C Series of Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWGs) that bring performance and usability enhancements to the industry’s most capable family of signal generation solutions. The new “C” series of Tektronix AWG instruments provide a 45 percent reduction in waveform creation times compared to prior AWG instruments, essential for performance-intensive applications where large number of waveforms are required to effectively characterize high-speed serial and wideband RF/Microwave designs. Based on customer input, the new AWGs implement a number of popular features from previous generation AWGs including equation editor, dynamic jump and sub-sequencing. The new models also feature brighter LED displays and deliver faster performance, as well as, enhanced security through use of the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. U.S. MSRP starts at $31,700 for the 600 MS/s AWG5002C and $72,800 for the 8 GS/s AWG7082C.
Microsemi Corporation Booth # 722
Microsemi Corporation’s RF Integrated Solutions group will display its advanced components and subsystems spanning frequencies from 100 Hz to110 GHz for avionics, radar, missile, satellite, telecommunications, wireless, defense, traffic and security systems. Included are GaAs and Si varactors, PINs, multi-function assemblies, high power silicon, silicon carbide, and new S-band radar transistors, high frequency amplifiers, log amplifiers, multipliers and transceivers. These high reliability RF solutions are designed for both current and next-generation applications. Microsemi products at 2011 MTT-S also will include the microelectronic assemblies of newly-acquired AML Communications, located in booth 2024.
Freescale Booth #1028
Freescale, the leader in RF power, will be demonstrating several new innovative RF power amplifier products in booth #1028. Come see the latest Freescale devices including our recently announced RF power LDMOS transistors that cover full frequency bands for wireless base stations. These devices with high efficiency and wide instantaneous bandwidth allow network operators to reduce operating and capital expenditures and improve network flexibility. The MRF8P20165WH/HS is designed for the 1930 to 1995 MHz PCS 1900 band. The MRF8P20140WH/HS is designed for the 1880 to 2025 MHz DC-SCDMA band (F and A).
