Next month (June 17th) SciTech Publishing will release Wireless Receiver Design for Digital Communications, 2nd Edition, by Kevin McClaning. This is a completely updated version from the very popular first edition (2001) that was written by Kevin McClaning and Tom Vito.

Part 1: Propagation.
Includes an excerpt from Chapter 3, covering types of propagation, propagation through free space, a homogenous medium, and a non-homogenous medium. Here's how it starts:
"The propagation characteristics between two geographically fixed sites will change over time; for no apparent reason. Digital eye patterns will open and close; bit-error rates will vary; frequency nulls will appear and disappear. We can often observe daily, monthly, and yearly variations in the propagation characteristics of a channel. In this chapter, we’ll explain some of the causes of these effects and offer some solutions."

About the Author
Kevin McClaning graduated from the University of Akron in 1982 with a BSEE and continued his education at Johns Hopkins, attaining an MSEE in 1986. He has been the lead architect on five large receiving systems for various government customers and consults on RF matters on a regular basis. He has taught two electrical engineering courses at JHU - Microwave Systems and Components, and Wireless Communication Circuits.

This will be a multi-part series to cover the excerpt from this new book: Wireless Receiver Design for Digital Communications, 2nd Edition. The book is in press now and will release in mid-June.

This will be a good read.
I am very interested to explore wireless performance at the system level, especially for mobile devices development with wifi, bluetooth and loads of other wireless technology.
