PARIS – Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions (CWCDS) announced it has joined The Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Consortium.
The FACE Consortium, an aviation-focused professional group made up of government, industry suppliers and customers, focuses on defining open standards that increase portability and facilitate reusable, interoperable software in safety- and security-critical systems.

CWCDS said it joined as an active Associate member of the FACE Consortium and, as such, offers Candidate FACE Hardware including rugged embedded open standards based modules and systems designed to be in compliance with future FACE profile specifications. Curtiss-Wright also noted that it provides modules and systems which host Candidate FACE Software applications and operating systems to develop, integrate and test future FACE compliant avionics.
Commenting on CWCDS' membership in the FACE Consortium, Lynn Bamford, senior vice president and general manager at CWCDS, declared: "We will continue to participate in its efforts to advance modular and interoperable open architecture avionics to bring the most advanced and cost-effective COTS solutions to the warfighter."
Last month, LDRA Technology Inc. joined the FACE Consortium, bringing DO-178B/C software verification tools, standards support, and certification expertise to consortium members.
