Board maker wins electronic warfare contract

PARIS – Mercury Computer Systems (Chelmsford, Massachusetts) said it has won a three-year contract with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory Tactical Electronic Warfare Division to supply advanced mixed signal digital receivers for prototype electronic warfare applications on airborne and surface shipboard platforms.

Commenting on the $16.7 million contract, Ian Dunn, vice president and general manager of Mercury's RF and Microwave Subsystems Group, declared: "The Navy's requirement to deny or degrade hostile uses of the electromagnetic spectrum has placed new demands on existing electronic warfare systems. Our array of mixed-signal offerings delivers ultra-fast tuning, high dynamic range, and extreme data processing -- all critical elements of electronic warfare support measures."

The Tactical Electronic Warfare Division is in charge of R&D activities in support of the Navy's tactical electronic warfare requirements and missions. These include electronic warfare support measures, electronic countermeasures, and supporting counter-countermeasures, as well as studies, analyses, and simulations for determining and improving the performance of Electronic Warfare systems.
