SAN FRANCISCO—Chip vendor Diodes Inc. said Friday (Sept. 28) it entered into an agreement to acquire analog IC vendor Power Analog Microelectronics Inc. (PAM). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Diodes (Plano, Texas) said the acquisition is expected to close during the fourth quarter.

PAM is a provider of advanced analog and high-voltage power ICs. It's product portfolio includes Class D audio amplifiers, DC-DC converters and LED back-lighting drivers. PAM was founded in Silicon Valley in 2004 and has technical and business centers in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taipei and Tokyo.

Keh-Shew Lu, president and CEO of Diodes, said through a statement that the acquisition would expand Diodes' product portfolio with filter-less digital audio amplifiers, application-specific power management ICs and high-performance LED drivers and DC-DC converters.

"The highly complementary nature of our businesses will provide immediate benefits to our customers, while generating long-term value for our shareholders and employees," Lu said.
