Using a DEC 21554 non-transparent PCI-to-PCI bridge chip in residence, the VMICPCI-7594 CPU board from VMIC, Huntsville, Ala., supports multiprocessing configurations on the CompactPCI bus.
Providing multiprocessing support for Windows NT, RTX, and VxWorks, the CPU also features dual 10/100-Mbit/s Ethernet controllers and an on-board PMC expansion site.
The VMICPCI-7594 packs a 233-MHz Pentium microprocessor with a full memory complement, including 32 Kbytes of battery-backed SRAM, 16 Mbytes of bootable flash memory, and up to 128 Mbytes of SDRAM. The L2 cache consists of 512 Kbytes of synchronous burst SRAM. The board also has an UltraIDE hard-drive controller, a floppy-disk controller, dual serial ports, and an ECP/EPP parallel port-all routed to the CompactPCI board's P3 connector. Its PS/2-style keyboard and mouse ports are routed to its front panel.
Also included in this CPU are a watchdog timer, three 16-bit timers, a real-time clock, and a miniature speaker. One of its Ethernet ports can be used for remote boot.
