SAN JOSE, Calif. Reporting break-even earnings for the fourth quarter, Micro Linear Corp. said it expects soft market conditions to continue into the current quarter.
The analog and mixed-signal IC maker posted sales of $12.1 million for the quarter ended Jan. 3, down 20 percent from $15.1 million in the comparable year-ago period. Net income dropped 96.9 percent from $1.6 million last year to $49,000 in the most recent quarter. The results were in line with consensus estimates of First Call Corp.
The backlog of orders for Micro Linear's March quarter is expected to remain relatively flat. "Unless there is an upward trend in bookings in the month of December, we expect tomaintain our current estimate for March of flat sequential sales and break-even earnings," according to a report from NationsBanc Montgomery Securities LLC (San Francisco).
Micro Linear (San Jose, Calif.) said product orders, particularly from the communications and computer segments, increased slightly from $12.1 million in the third quarter to $12.4 million in the fourth quarter.
