Reptron Electronics, Inc. has extended its support for Hitachi products by opening an Engineering Design Center just minutes from Hitachi Semiconductor (America) Inc.'s corporate headquarters in San Jose, Calif.
The new facility, which will offer hardware and software development tools and documentation support for Hitachi Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, will be staffed with Reptron Field Application Engineers (FAEs) certified by Hitachi, plus an additional seventeen Hitachi-certified FAEs nationwide will be available to provide additional local support. All of the Reptron FAEs have network access to key equipment at Hitachi's San Jose facility.
This is the first such center Hitachi has formed with a distribution partner, according to Paul Plante, Reptron's chief operating officer. If it is successful, Plante said the companies may establish additional centers in the U.S. The center essentially replaces the need for design engineers to purchase the tools to test their applications on Hitachi products.
