Rounding out its worldwide distribution network, Triscend Corp. today announced it has named Unique as its partner in Asia.
Unique Asia Pacific, part of the $1.7 billion Memec Group of VEBA Electronics, will supply Triscend's Configurable System-on-Chip devices and software, along with technical and engineering support to customers throughout the Asia- Pacific region, including China, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan. The CSoCs are immediately available from Unique.
"We're already seeing significant CSoC design activity in Asia, and our partnership with Unique will provide us with a strong sales infrastructure and engineering support to service the community and solidify our leadership position in Asia-Pacific," said Stanley Yang, president and chief executive of Triscend, Mountain View, Calif.
CSoCs consist of a single chip combining an industry-standard microprocessor, embedded programmable logic, a dedicated system bus, and memory. Using Triscend's FastChip software development tools, engineers can easily customize the devices at the desktop, to support data communications, networking, and embedded Internet appliance applications, the company claims.
Like PLDs, the devices are well suited to the distribution channel, because one part number can be stocked and sold off-the-shelf, or quickly programmed at the warehouse before being shipped to the customer.
"Triscend's CSoC technology complements our differentiated approach to bringing leading-edge technology products and application solutions to our customers," said Herman Yen, managing director of Unique Asia Pacific.
The agreement completes Triscend's global market coverage less than a year after the company opened its distribution channel with All American and Bell Microproducts in the United States. Triscend has also aligned with Unique in Europe, and Internix in Japan.
