Following the lead of several other big-names players, Philips Semiconductors will be working with Viacore Inc. to develop an e-business process integration infrastructure.
Viacore, Orange, Calif., will allow Philips Semiconductors to connect back-office processes with multiple Internet trading partners. Viacore also provides a platform that facilitates the implementation of RosettaNet e-business communications standards throughout the supply chain.
"As Philips Semiconductors' Process Service Provider, Viacore offers a highly scalable, standards-based infrastructure that Philips Semiconductors requires for the complex task of integrating processes with our trading partners," said Bill Roeder, director of global e-business, in a statement. "Enhancing Philips Semiconductors' interoperability with its trading partners is expected to reduce [the company's] operating costs significantly. The potential savings could be many millions of dollars."
The saving will come from the reduction of manual processes and the more efficient alignment of supply-chain practices, according to the companies.
Other companies, including Arrow Electronics, Avnet, and 3Com, have signed similar deals with Viacore.
