Arrow Electronics Inc. announced today it has agreed to purchase the standard military analog-IC product line from Fairchild Semiconductor International Corp., which has ceased production of military and aerospace products.
Arrow Electronics' military and aerospace business group, Arrow/Zeus Electronics, will begin providing sales and marketing services for these products immediately.
"We are very attuned to the needs of our military and aerospace customer base," said Sean Fernandez, president of Arrow/Zeus, Purchase, N.Y. The agreement allows Arrow/Zeus to provide Fairchild's standard military analog products to key customers such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop/Grumman and Boeing, he said.
"Because we recognize that obsolescence will continue to be a hugechallenge for our customers, this agreement should allow us to
provide the ongoing support required to extend the life of many
Fairchild standard military analog products," Fernandez added.
"While Fairchild will no longer manufacture military and aerospace
products, we're pleased that Arrow/Zeus will continue to service our
customer base," said Philip Levine, director of business
development for Fairchild Semiconductor, South Portland, Maine. "We want to make this
transition go as smoothly as possible for our mutual customers."
