Building on its relationship with industry-led exchange E2open, LG Electronics today inked a three-year agreement to buy E2open's supply chain collaboration software solutions.
The Korean company will use the software to better facilitate collaboration with its trading partners outside of Korea, E2open said.
While the agreement marks the first customer announcement for the supply chain collaboration offering, it represents LG's second major project with the Belmont, Calif. company.
In May, LG, one of the 10 founders of the industry-led marketplace, said it would implement E2open's product collaboration offering to coordinate its design process. LG intends to use the platform as part of its core infrastructure for managing design projects, connecting design teams globally and interacting with suppliers and customers.
Currently, LG manages communication with its trading partners via fax, email and the telephone, according to E2open.LG will initially go live with the supply chain platform in Indonesia and extend it to all overseas plants by the end of November 2001.
