Vishay Intertechnology Inc. is back on the acquisition trail with an announcement today that it has added the transducer and strain gage businesses of Sensortronics Inc. to its operation.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed but Vishay said the acquired units had sales of approximately $16 million in 2001.
Vishay is noted for making numerous bite size acquisitions every year to beef up its product portfolio or to enter a new market. The company last year launched a successful but initially hostile bid for General Semiconductor Inc. It also bought several smaller businesses in North America and Europe during the year.
The businesses acquired from Sensortronics will be folded into Vishay's Measurement's Group, according to Felix Zandman, chairman and chief executive of the company.
"This acquisition will vertically broaden the Vishay Measurements Group's product portfolio and strengthen the existing strain gage business," Zandman said, in a statement.
