Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., Malvern, Penn., announced today that it has purchased the BLH and Nobel businesses from Thermo Electron Corp.
BLH and Nobel are engaged in the production and sale of load cell based process weighing systems, weighing and batching instruments, web tension instruments, weighing scales, servo control systems, and components relating to load cells includingstrain gages, foil gages, and transducers.
In the calendar year ended December 31, the acquired businesses acquired had sales of approximately $27 million. The purchase price was $18.5 million.
"This acquisition represents another step in our commitment to become a major participant in the $500 million per year transducer market and an even larger instrumentation and systems market," said Felix Zandman, chairman and chief executive of Vishay, in a released statement.
"BLH and Nobel are perfect complements to our previous acquisitions, Tedea-Huntleigh and Sensortronics. These four
companies form the nucleus of our newly formed Vishay Transducers Group within the Vishay Measurements Group. Our intention is to continue to penetrate this market through further acquisitions and organic growth."
Vishay acquired Tedea-Huntleigh in April and Sensortronics in January.
