Intel Corp. todaynamed Mark McDermott to head its
new Texas Development Center, which will
be located in Austin. McDermott will lead
product development for future Intel
microprocessors. He will report to Albert
Yu, senior vice president of Intel's
Microprocessor Products Group.
Before joining Intel, McDermott worked as
director of Motorola's Somerset Design
Center, the Austin-based former
IBM-Motorola PowerPC joint venture.
During that time he helped found the
company's Advanced Systems Technology
Lab where he served as director of
system-on-a-chip design technology.
"Austin is home to substantial
microprocessor development expertise
and I'm excited to help drive Intel's
expansion into this growing region,"
McDermott said. "The professional and
academic talent pool in Texas should
provide an excellent foundation for future
