Microdisplay supplier Three-Five Systems Inc. has announced a marketing and design agreement with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Osram, a German-based lamp supplier.
Under the agreement, Three-Five, of Tempe, Ariz., will market OSRAM's OLED display products as well as provide design-engineering services to support the integration of OSRAM's technology into customer products. OSRAM will maintain its independent marketing, sales and integration channels.
The agreement covers a spectrum of current OLED display technologies as well as product configurations, including standard displays from OSRAM as well as custom modules designed by Three-Five.
"We view our agreement with OSRAM as a continuing step in a long-term relationship that will benefit each of our companies on several fronts, " said Jack L. Saltich, Three-Five's president and chief executive, in a statement.
The OSRAM agreement was Three-Five's second major announcement in the past week. Last Friday, the company completed the acquisition of ETMA, a Redmond, Wash., electronics manufacturer, for $38 million.
