Solectron Corp. said today it has signed an agreement to provide new product
introduction, printed-circuit board design and other supply chain services for
SkyBitz's global satellite asset tracking devices.
The deal enhances Solectron's exposure in the automotive and data communications
sectors since the Milpitas, Calif., EMS company will make SkyBitz Mobile
Terminals -- satellite-based tracking devices that are used within the automobile
and shipping industries. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Solectron will tap manufacturing resources at its plants in Milpitas, Calif.,
and Charlotte, N.C., to fulfill supply chain services for SkyBitz , a Dulles,
Va., company that specializes in tracking and data communication products with
Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.
