Power semiconductor supplier International Rectifier Corp., El Segundo, Calif., has begun to build an assembly and test plant in Xi'an, China.
The plant is expected to become operational in early 2005 for manufacturing power management components for power supplies, motion control systems, PCs, and consumer electronics products.
"Our new Xi'an facility forms a significant milestone in our business strategy," said Walt Lifsey, executive vice president of operations for International Rectifier, in a statement.
The plant will be located in Chang'an Technology Park in Xi'an High Technology Industrial Development Zone. International Rectifier already maintains design and development centers in Xi'an, a trading company in Shanghai, and sales offices throughout China.
