Santa Cruz, Calif. - Pulsic Ltd., a U.K.-based EDA startup offering physical IC design tools, has named EDA veteran Ken Roberts chief executive officer. Roberts replaces company founder Mark Williams, who became chief operating officer.
Roberts was most recently the vice president and general manager of Magma Design Automation Inc. in Europe. Before that, he worked for Quickturn Design Systems, Cadence Design Systems Inc. and, earlier, for Daisy Systems and Marconi Space and Defence.
Williams said that Roberts is joining Pulsic (Bristol, England) as it begins a major ramp. Since January, the company has secured first-round funding, announced two major products and attributed more than 100 tapeouts to its tools.
Pulsic offers solutions for engineering-change-order placement, routing, timing closure, signal integrity and power routing. Its Lyric Physical Design Framework targets analog and custom ICs while its Prelude Design Framework, announced in June, handles large digital ASIC designs.
