WASHINGTON Synopsys Inc. and ARM Ltd. have jointly developed a low-power reference methodology for implementing ARM's energy manager technology in silicon.
The partners said Monday (Jan. 28) that ARM's Intelligent Energy Management technology, when used with its Artisan low-power library, can reduce power consumption by up to 60 percent. The new reference methodology is built around the Galaxy Design Platform developed by Synopsys (Mountain View, Calif.).
ARM (Cambridge, U.K.) and Synopsys said they tested the energy management technology in systems-on-chips at multiple foundries over the past several months.
The collaboration is part of multiyear effort by the partners to develop ARM processors and intellectual property.
