MANHASSET, N.Y. Capacitor supplier Kemet Corp. has named Per-Olof Loof its new chief executive effective April 4, 2005.
Loof., who will also join the board of directors of Kemet (Greenville, S.C.), succeeds Jeffrey Graves, who resigned after less than two years at the helm.
Loof is currently Managing Partner of QuanStar Group LLC, a management consulting firm located in New York City. He previously served as chief executive of Sensormatic Electronics Corp., a leader in electronic security, which was acquired by Tyco.
Earlier in his career, he served in various leadership roles, both domestically and internationally, at Andersen Consulting, Digital Equipment Corp., AT&T and NCR. In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors of several publicly traded companies.
Loof faces the difficult task of turning around a capacitor supplier that is transitioning to be a more global company but continues to face bottom-line pressures amidst stiff competition from offshore passive suppliers.
Kemet also announced that Frank G. Brandenberg, one of the Company's current independent Directors, has been elected as its new chairman effective March 31. Brandenberg succeeds David Maguire, who is retiring.
