MANHASSET, N.Y. Atmel Corp. announced Wednesday (March 23) that the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled the company did not infringe on any patents belonging to Agere Sytems Inc., related to semiconductor processes.
In 2002, Agere (Allentown, Pa.) sued Atmel (San Jose, Calif.) for allegedly infringing three patents related to Tungsten processes, designated Patent Nos. 5,102,827, 5,227,335; and 6,323,126. Agere also sued Atmel for allegedly infringing U.S. Patent No. Re 34,269 related to integrated circuit packages.
"This is a significant victory for Atmel because it validated our long- felt belief that Agere's claims were unmeritorious," says Julie Mar-Spinola, vice president, Global Affairs--Litigation and Intellectual Property, in a statement."
Agere has 30 days to appeal the Court decision.
