AUSTIN, Texas Giang Dao, who earlier ran its lithography research division, was named chief operating officer for advanced technology at International Sematech on Tuesday (April 26).
Dao, assigned to Sematech from Intel Corp., will manage the lithography, front-end processes and interconnect divisions. A native of Vietnam, Dao earned a master's degree in electronic engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He joined Intel Corp. in 1986, and was assigned by Intel to Sematech to work on lithography research in 2001.
Kevin Kemp, a Freescale Semiconductor assignee who currently serves as associate director of lithography, is expected to replace Dao as head of the lithography program. A spokesman declined comment, saying an announcement is expected in several days.
Sematech has another chief operating officer, John Schmitz of Philips Semiconductors, who managers the manufacturing operations programs.
