SAN FRANCISCO Longtime Motorola Inc. executive Ray Burgess has joined Zoran Corp.'s board of directors, Zoran said Wednesday (April 27).
Burgess was a fixture of Motorola's Semiconductor Product Sector (SPS) from 1984-2004, holding a number of high-ranking executive positions during his tenure, including corporate vice president of strategy, marketing and communications.
Burgess left Freescale Semiconductor Inc., the successor to SPS that Motorola spun-out in 2004, in July 2004 as part of what Will Strauss, industry analyst and president of Forward Concepts Co., said at the time was part of a management shakeup engineered by then newly appointed Freescale Chairman and CEO Michel Mayer.
In a statement issued by Zoran, Levy Gerzberg, president and CEO, said Zoran is looking forward to Burgess' advice and counsel. Gerzberg said that Burgess was well-known for his leadership abilities during his years at Motorola, "growing businesses that address many of the global markets similar to those Zoran serves today."
