SAN FRANCISCO EDA software development services company SoftJin has introduced a building block product for design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for yield (DFY) tool development.
The software toolkit, called Nirmaan, is designed to allow EDA companies and semiconductor in-house CAD groups to more rapidly develop optimized post-layout EDA tools, including those for DFM and DFY. Nirmaan includes an efficient geometric data organization and fast geometrical operations commonly required for developing post-layout EDA tools, especially DFM/DFY tools, SoftJin (Bangalore, India) said.
Nirmaan is the first off-the-shelf product from SoftJin, which typically is engaged by semiconductor companies and EDA vendors to help develop custom tools and commercial software. Nachiket Urdhwareshe, SoftJin's CEO, said the product does not represent a new direction for the company, but is in line with SoftJin's mission of providing designers creating tools with the "building blocks" to help.
With Nirmaan, Urdhwareshe said, "tool developers can focus on the development of their core application rather than spending time and effort on essential but non-core aspects."
Nirmaan is available now to select beta sites and will be in production release in the third quarter. It will be licensed as object code to EDA tool developers to include, build upon and/or sell as part of their post-layout tools. Licenses for Nirmaan start at $150,000.
