SAN FRANCISCO Altera Corp. Tuesday (May 31) narrowed its second quarter guidance, saying that the company now expects second quarter revenue to be at the higher-end of its previous quarterly guidance.
Altera (San Jose, Calif.) had previously said it expects second quarter revenues to be up 4-5 percent from the $264.8 million reported for the first quarter. An increase of 4-5 percent over first quarter revenue would put Altera's second quarter revenue in the $274-$278 million range.
Altera credited sales of its newest FPGA products, Stratix II, Cyclone II and MAX II, for the optimism, saying that Stratix II sales in the second quarter have already exceeded total sales for the first quarter. Stratix, Cyclone, and Hardcopy sales are all tracking ahead of first quarter sales, the company said.
