TOKYO Renesas Technology Corp. said it will supply microprocessor technology and technical support as part of a plan to collaborate with the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.
Renesas said it expects the collaboration will widen its access to Chinese automobile manufacturers.
The Chinese center is a government-affiliated research institute for automotive systems established in 1985 under the jurisdiction of the state-owned Estate Supervision and Administration Committee. The center develops automotive technologies and provides technical support to China's emerging automotive industry. It also helps develop standards.
The center is already working with overseas electronics companies to develop automotive technologies. Renesas is the latest electronics companies to cooperate with the center.
The partners said they will develop automotive systems based on Renesas's microprocessors. Renesas is Japan's top supplier of automotive electronics. It expects the collaboration to increase brand recognition for its microprocessors in the Chinese market and eventually increase its presence in China.
