WASHINGTON Digimarc Corp. and a Hungarian partner said they are developing interoperable digital watermark software for detecting security features on travel documents.
Digimarc (Beaverton, Ore.) and Jura JSP (Budapest) said Monday (Sept. 19) that their digital watermark inspection software will be design to detect security features on travel documents that comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
The software would allow travel inspectors to authenticate ICAO-compliant passports, visas and other travel documents using a single watermark reader, the partners said.
Machine-readable digital watermarks are being considered to use in securing passports and visas. They could also provide anti-counterfeiting security in new chip-based passports.
