MANHASSET, N.Y. Korean semiconductor supplier MagnaChip Semiconductor posted a net loss of $13.2 million on sales of $243.1 million in the third quarter, compared to a loss of $33.5 million on sales of $236.0 million the previous quarter.
Gross margin was 25.5 percent, compared to 25.6 percent the previous quarter.
"A more stable pricing environment positively benefitted MagnaChip along with continued operating efficiencies and our cost containment initiatives," said Robert Krakauer, executive vice president of strategic operations and chief financial officer, in a statement. "Capital spending was $22 million for the quarter, up from previous quarters, but under our plan for the year, as we strategically mange the timing of investments to meet our operational needs."
MagnaChip announced in October it would raise capital spending and start shipping products based on a 130-nm process in 2006.
