MANHASSET, N.Y. Portable image scanner supplier Syscan Imaging Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Nanodisplay Inc., a provider of carbon nanotube display technology.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Syscan Imaging (San Jose) expects the acquisition of Nanodisplay to expand its SysView Technology subsidiary that specializes in HDTV display technology. Nanodisplay has four patents surrounding its proprietary carbon nanotube technology and an advanced assembly and integration process.
Nanodisplay is producing an advanced LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) chip with 1,080-pixel resolution. With this new process technology, upgrades to 3,000, 4,000, and 7.000 pixels are likely at an accelerated pace.
Darwin Hu, the chairman and CEO of Syscan Imaging said in a statement, "We are very excited with the addition of Nanodisplay which puts us directly in the burgeoning LCoS arena with the likes of Spatialight, Brillian, eLCoS and others."
