SINGAPORE Malaysian foundry Silterra and Belgium-based design firm Essensium announced a new partnership Tuesday (Nov. 15) that will see the two companies jointly develop turnkey solutions for European semiconductor customers.

The two firms have already started to cross-sell each other's product offerings and will launch joint marketing campaigns by the end of 2005.
Essensium and Silterra said the partnership would allow them to provide to European clients a "complete turnkey solution, from high-level technical specifications to packaged components, expeditiously and cost effectively."
A Silterra spokesperson said the company already has several European customers in place, with most running prototypes or silicon shuttle services to validate their designs.
With the new partnership, Silterra expects Europe to contribute about 10 to 15 percent of its revenue in the next several years, and it is also seeking more opportunities to "forge partnerships with well-known design houses worldwide," the spokesperson said.
