MANHASSET, N.Y. Semiconductor IP company Mosaid Technologies Inc. reported net income of $4.3 million, or 37 cents per share on sales of $16.2 million in its second fiscal 2006 quarter ended Oct. 31, up from a net loss of $1.1 million, or 11 cents per share on sales of $7.0 million in the year-ago fiscal quarter.
Fiscal 2006 year revenue to date is $30.5 million, up 87 percent from $16.3 million in the same fiscal period a year ago. Net income for the period was $8.7 million or 75 cents per diluted share, compared to a loss of $1.1 million or 10 cents per share in the same period a year ago.
During the quarter, Mosaid signed a five-year running royalty license with a major Taiwanese semiconductor company, one of the world's largest DRAM makers. The company also completed the acquisition of mobile semiconductor IP supplier Virtual Silicon Technology Inc..
On Oct. 31, U.S. District Judge Fogel granted Mosaid's motion for a request to appeal the court judgement in its patent dispute with Infineon Technologies AG.
